Przemysłowy Instytut Telekomunikacji S.A.


On the 1st March 2008, the Warsaw-based Przemysłowy Instytut Telekomunikacji existing over 75 years was transferred into a sole-owner State Treasury joint stock company but still having status of a Research & Development Center. The present Przemysłowy Instytut Telekomunikacji S.A. has around 700 high-skilled employees in the headquarter and in the Gdańsk and Wrocław divisions. In December 2009 Minister of State Treasury transferred 80 % euqity of PIT S.A. to capital group Bumar sp. z .o.o, a largest Polish holding of military equipment. Since January 2010 PIT S.A. is a official member of Bumar Group.

The new established company follows its activities of recent decades including the research and development in the area of radar technology, command control systems and electronic recognition systems. The origins of radar technology in PIT S.A. go back to the end of forties and that of command and control systems of sixties. So long period of activity allowed the Institute to develop a solid base of experiences, application and skills in all these related matters.

The most important customer for Institute's solutions is the Polish Ministry of Defence. A major part of radar equipment which is nowadays in service at Polish Air Force has been developed by specialists from the Przemysłowy Instytut Telekomunikacji S.A. It concerns mainly the up-to-date 3D long range radars, including the radars dedicated for the NATO backbone network and also mobile medium 3D range radars. The national air space is under control of four sector operations centers, which have been developed and delivered by the Institute. The centers gather the air picture information from various sensors and use it, after processing, for control of active combat means.

Przemysłowy Instytut Telekomunikacji S.A. has become a recognized partner of Polish Navy as a supplier of original solutions for sea protection, including sea patrol aircraft being equipped with a sea surface surveillance radar and additional systems. Also the technology of low probability of intercept FMCW radars for specific application has been developed by Przemysłowy Instytut Telekomunikacji S.A.
To support automatically the tactical command of Land Forces including planning, collection of the information and presentation of the battlefield information at level of corp, division, brigade and battalion,
a modern information system has been developed in Institute. The system has been introduced into service in multinational military structures. A new weapon locating radar has been developed also for Land Forces.

A separate and important line of products includes the passive reconnaissance equipment. These technologies are subject of common and growing interest nowadays. The systems developed by the Institute, find application in Land Forces, Navy and recently in Air Force.
Thanks to development of own microwave components, including waveguides, ferrites and LFB tubes, the Institute has remained independent to significant extent from external suppliers of these components.

The Institute participates in international defence programs and in numerous programs of EU. The invitations for participation in international consortia confirm high estimation of the Institute by foreign partners, at the same time they allow for permanent verification of level of own work. Przemysłowy Instytut Telekomunikacji S.A. is in the list of NATO deliveries with the assigned code NCAGE 0212H. The Institute has concession No B-068/2003 for manufacturing and trading of products for military, police and civil application and has been granted with civilian and military certificates PN-EN ISO 9001 and NATO AQAP 2110.
